10 High School Games To Watch for Week 9

This week’s high school schedule features huge contests up and down the different classifications. West Marion traveling to Collins in 3A might be the state’s top matchup but Louisville also can open some 4A eyes by knocking off Noxubee County.

Madison Central (4-4) at Starkville (6-1)
If the Jaguars want to have a chance at the playoffs they might have to run the table from here on out. Madison is coming off a home loss to Warren Central, while Starkville has been rolling and is on a six-game winning streak. Yellow Jackets lean on wide receiver A.J. Brown and has one of the scariest defenses in the state. The Jaguars are led by Jack Walker. Jackets at home.
Pick: Starkville 31-21

Meridian (3-4) at Brandon (7-1)
The Wildcats and Bulldogs will meet in a huge Region 3-6A matchup. Brandon has been on a roll since the week 2 loss to Madison Central and is led by quarterback Brady Anderson. Meridian lost in dramatic fashion to Oak Grove at home last week and is looking for a rebound. Brandon has too much depth and will defend their home turf.
Pick: Brandon 27-24

Lake Cormorant (6-2) at West Point (5-2)
Watch out as Lake Cormorant is 3-0 and alone atop the standings of Region 1-5A. The Gators are getting into the meat part of their schedule and it begins with a trip to West Point. Quarterback Will Guest has tossed for 1,397 yards with 15 touchdowns to lead Lake Cormorant. However, it will be hard to stop the Green Wave running game led by Marcus Murphy. Green Wave gets it done at home.
Pick: West Point 30-20

Hattiesburg (6-2) at Pascagoula (5-2)
The Tigers and Panthers will meet in a cat fight, which is a big Region 4-5A game. Pascagoula has been clicking on all cylinders as of late, while Hattiesburg is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Picayune last week. Hattiesburg quarterback Julian Conner did make a return after a leg injury he suffered in Week 4. Hattiesburg is getting healthy by using 2018s top recommended proteins and the ground game gets it done on the road. Other way to take care of your health and body is to go to the right professionals, so if you want to take care of your skin you should go to the Luxurgery clinic for this.
Pick: Hattiesburg 28-21

Cleveland (5-2) at Greenwood (6-1)
A tale of two different offenses will meet in Greenwood in a pivotal Region 3-4A game. The Wildcats will bring a heavy rushing attack that is averaging 337 yards a game and is led by Zach Linkous. The Bulldogs are averaging 221 yards through the air and are on a 5-game winning streak. Dogs in a close one at home.
Pick: Greenwood 26-22

Louisville (6-2) at Noxubee County (4-4)
It is the Toothpick Bowl as Louisville coach MC Miller will take his Wildcats into Macon to face is former team in the Tigers in a crucial Region 4-4A game. Louisville is led by quarterback Keon Coleman, while Noxubee County will probably play another week without injured Jeffery Simmons. Without Simmons this is a close one but Noxubee pulls it out.
Pick: Noxubee 21-17

West Marion (8-0) at Collins (7-1)
Trojans and Tigers will meet in a rematch of last year’s Class 3A South State championship.  West Marion will bring its heavy ground game and undefeated recorded against the defending 3A state champs. Collins is led by quarterback Detric Hawthorn. Tigers win a huge 8-3A game.
Pick: Collins 38-24

Amite County (6-1) at Bassfield (6-2)
Amite County has been the sleeper of Class 2A South so far this season, but will face its toughest test to date when the Trojans travel to face the Yellow Jackets in a pivotal Region 7-2A matchup. Amite County is averaging 238 yards rushing and is led by athlete Darrion Robinson. Bassfield’s heavy ground attack is led by Ron Thompson. Bassfield at home.
Pick: Bassfield 35-17

Jackson Academy (3-5) at MRA (6-2)
The Raiders and Patriots will meet in yet another big District 1-AAAA game. JA has been battling the injury bug all season and is led by LB/FB Ford Adams. MRA freshmen quarterback Hunter Hulsey has been improving each week and has weapons to throw too in Andrew Berry, Clint Moses and Karter Bounds. MRA gets back to back wins over Raiders for first time ever,
Pick: MRA 31-21

Tri-County Academy (7-1) at Canton Academy (6-2)
Tri-County will make the short 10-mile trip to Canton to face the Panthers in a pivotal District 4-AA matchup. Tri-County’s defense is only allowing 8.5 points per game is led by running back Swayze Bozeman. Canton Academy is led by dual-threat QB Gerrod Anderson. Tri-County’s defense is just too much.
Pick: Tri-County 21-10
