Mississippi Gridiron, in conjunction with Super Talk FM is rolling out the Super 25, ranking the top 25 high school football players in the state of Mississippi.
Five players a day were released on air on Head to Head with Matt Wyatt and Richard Cross starting last Monday afternoon as they worked backwards from 25 to 1. Laurel tight end Octavius Cooley is the nation’s No. 3 tight end prospect according to 247Sports and Mississippi’s No. 6 overall prospect. Cooley is rated as the nation’s No. 95 overall prospect by Scout and the country’s No. 5 tight end prospect. As a junior, he hauled in 46 passes for 1,062 yards and nine touchdowns. A starter since his freshman year, Cooley already has 154 receptions for 2,971 yards and 31 touchdowns for his high school career.
