Capital Preps Team of the Week for Week 10

Here is our Capital Preps Team of the Week for week 10, presented by Capital Ortho. This week’s team is highlighted by over 300 yards of total offense from Pelahatchie’s Javeious Purvis and a 20-tackle performance from Jackson Academy’s Donovan Veasley.

 

OFFENSE

Quarterback, Javeious Purvis, Pelahatchie
Pelahatchie senior athlete Javeious Purvis led the Chiefs to a huge 21-19 win over Scott Central by totaling 321 yards of offense, running for a pair of touchdowns, throwing for a touchdown and racking up ten tackles. He also averaged 44.8 yards on four punts.

All Purpose, Dee Baker, Northwest Rankin
Northwest Rankin senior Dee Baker racked up 176 yards of offense including 120 yards rushing on just seven carries with a touchdown in the Cougars 49-26 win over Greenville. Baker also had a pair of catches for 56 yards and another score.

Running Back, Noah Thweatt, Pisgah
Pisgah senior running back Noah Thweatt ran 27 times for 219 yards and had four touchdowns in the Dragons’ 42-20 win over Mize.

Wide Receiver, Reed Barlow, Florence
Florence junior Reed Barlow had ten receptions for 141 yards and also rushed nine times for another 100 yards with two touchdowns in a 62-21 loss to South Pike.

 

DEFENSE

Defensive Line, Porter Magandy, Germantown
Germantown’s Porter Magandy finished with a  game-high eleven tackles in the Mavericks’ 28-13 win over Cleveland Central.

Linebacker, Donovan Veasley, Jackson Academy
Jackson Academy linebacker Donovan Veasley had 20 total tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and forced a fumble in the Raiders 35-10 win over Parklane.

Defensive Back, Lamar Gray, Warren Central
Warren Central’s Lamar Gray finished with 16 tackles, had an interception, blocked a punt and ran for four touchdowns in a 35-31 win over Clinton.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Punter, Tucker Barefoot, Clinton
Clinton senior placekicker Tucker Barefoot was 4-4 on extra points and made his only field goal attempt in a 38-35 loss to Warren Central.
