Capital Preps Team of the Week for Week 12

The week 12 Capital Preps Team of the Week, presented by Capital Ortho, is highlighted by a 200-yard rushing effort from Pisgah’s Noah Thweatt and a four-touchdown effort from Florence quarterback Ian Vaughn. Thweatt enters this weekend as the state’s #2 overall rusher with 2,026 yards and 22 touchdowns.



Quarterback, Javeious Purvis, Pelahatchie
Pelahatchie quarterback Javeious Purvis was 5-9 passing for 127 yards and two touchdowns in a 55-6 win over West Lincoln. He added 112 yards rushing on six carries with two touchdowns, four tackles and a tackle for loss.

All Purpose, Ian Vaughn, Florence
Florence quarterback Ian Vaughn completed 14-18 passes for 186 yards in a 31-28 win over Lawrence County. Vaughn also rushed for 102 yards on 25 carries with four touchdowns.

Running Back, Noah Thweatt, Pisgah
Pisgah running back Noah Thweatt ran for 216 yards on 26 carries with a pair of touchdowns in a  49-12 win over Amite County. He added one 80-yard touchdown reception and had an 82-yard run.

Wide Receiver, Jonathan Mingo, Brandon
Brandon wide receiver Jonathan Mingo caught six passes for 92 yards with two touchdowns in a region-clinching 14-10 win over Pearl.



Defensive Line, C. J. Aby, Pisgah
Pisgah defensive lineman C. J. Aby had eight tackles and four sacks in the Dragons’ 49-12 win over Amite County.

Linebacker, Malik Sims, Warren Central
Warren Central linebacker Malik Sims had a game-high ten tackles with three tackles for loss in a 34-13 win over Provine. He also added an interception.

Defensive Back, A. J. Edwards, Germantown
Germantown defensive back A. J. Edwards had six tackles and an interception in a 34-0 win over Ridgeland.



Punter, Eli Jennings, Florence
Florence placekicker Eli Jennings was 5-5 on extra points and hit a 36-yard field goal in the Eagles’ 31-28 win over Lawrence County.
