Capital Preps Team of the Week for Week 8

Here is our Capital Preps Team of the Week for week 8. A pair of Brandon Bulldogs make the team with wideout Jonathan Mingo and linebacker Shepherd Robbins both having big nights in a win over Petal.


Quarterback, Zane Cothern, Pisgah
Pisgah senior quarterback Zane Cothern was 8-8 passing for 216 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-26 win over Bogue Chitto.

All Purpose, Javeious Purvis, Pelahatchie
Pelahatchie quarterback Javeious Purvis completed 7-9 passes for 214 yards with three touchdowns in a 48-0 win over Puckett. He also rushed for 78 yards on six carries with another two scores.

Running Back, Lakenith Thompson, Callaway
Callaway senior running back Lakenith Thompson rushed for 303 yards on 24 carries with four touchdowns to lead the Chargers to a 36-34 win over Ridgeland.

Wide Receiver, Jonathan Mingo, Brandon
Brandon wide receiver Jonathan Mingo had nine receptions for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a win over Petal.



Defensive Line, Montrey Merchant, Lanier
Lanier senior defensive lineman Montrey Merchant had 13 tackles to help lead the Bulldogs to a 24-21 win over McComb.

Linebacker, Joseph Perryman, Madison Central
Madison Central sophomore linebacker Joseph Perryman had six tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and forced a fumble in a 24-17 win over Warren Central.

Defensive Back, Shepherd Robbins, Brandon
Brandon linebacker/defensive back Shepherd Robbins recorded a game-high 19 tackles including a tackle for loss and a sack in the Bulldogs’ 38-21 win over Petal.



Kicker, Caden Davis, Pearl
Pearl placekicker Caden Davis was 4-4 on extra points and hit a 41-yard field goal in the Pirates’ 31-6 win over Terry.
