The Capital Team of the Week for week 8 is presented by Malone Roofing. This week’s featured player is Warren Central linebacker Malik Sims who had 15 tackles in the Vikings’ game against Madison Central.

OFFENSE

Quarterback, Quay Ragsdale / Pelahatchie
Pelahatchie junior quarterback Quay Ragsdale (6’, 155) completed 8-10 passes for 213 yards and four touchdowns in a 63-34 win over South Delta. Ragsdale also rushed for 196 yards on 16 carries with another two touchdowns on the ground.

All-Purpose, Markell Young / Ridgeland
Ridgeland senior running back Markell Young (6’, 210) accounted for three touchdowns by rushing 19 times for 128 yards and adding 96 receiving yards on five receptions in a 48-30 win over Callaway.

Running Back, Christopher Jones / Lanier
Lanier sophomore running back Christopher Jones (5’9, 165) needed just 14 rushes to pile up 306 rushing yards and a couple of touchdowns in a 46-6 win over Raymond.

Wide Receiver, Jordan Cavitt / Northwest Rankin
Northwest Rankin junior wide receiver Jordan Cavitt (6’1, 185) finished with six receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Cougars’ 35-0 win at George County.

DEFENSE

Defensive Line, Ethan Archie / Jackson Academy
Jackson Academy sophomore defensive lineman Ethan Archie (5’11, 225) picked up two sacks and two tackles for loss in the Raiders’ 41-12 win over East Rankin.

Linebacker, Malik Sims / Warren Central
Warren Central senior linebacker Malik Sims (5’10, 225) finished with 15 total tackles in the Vikings’ 28-7 loss to Madison Central.

Defensive Back, Kievon Bell / Ridgeland
Ridgeland senior defensive back Kievon Bell (6’, 175) had two interceptions and three tackles in the Titans’ 48-30 win over Callaway.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker, Gavin Gaudin / Northwest Rankin
Northwest Rankin senior placekicker Gavin Gaudin (5’9, 155) was 5-5 on extra points and averaged 39.4 yards on five punts in a 35-0 win at George County.
