ABOUT THE PUBLISHER
I am Chris Brooks and I am the publisher of Mississippi Gridiron. I graduated from Mississippi College with a bachelors degree in Chemistry in 1999 and completed my masters in Chemistry in 2008. I went to school to work in the medical world but sports has always been a consuming part of my life, and ultimately pulled me in that direction.
I was fortunate to have an opportunity to work in college athletics at Mississippi College starting in 2000, working under Mike Jones. I spent three years as a men’s basketball graduate assistant under Coach Jones, and took over as MC’s Sports Information Director in 2002. After nine years as the SID at MC, I made the decision to launch Mississippi’s first comprehensive high school and college football magazine.
ABOUT MISSISSIPPI GRIDIRON
The first edition of Mississippi Gridiron Magazine was released in 2010, and included a comprehensive football preview of every high school, junior college, and college team in our state. Our second release in 2011 included a similar format, with college and high school content. Last year we focused strictly on high school football in Mississippi but we will return to our original format next year with complete coverage of every college, junior college, and high school in the state.
A yearbook edition of the magazine was also published following the 2010 and 2011 seasons, with the majority of the photos and coverage coming from the State Championship games and all-star games. Due to the enormity of our summer preview annual and the time it consumes to create, we are not publishing the yearbook edition at this time.
The Mississippi Gridiron website was designed and launched in 2010 by SIDEARM Sports with the intent of providing up to the minute coverage of football in Mississippi.
