The biggest win of the night came on the coast where Brookhaven won 28-20 at Pascagoula. Meridian and Gulfport combined for 95 points with the Wildcats picking up a 49-46 win at Gulfport. Noxubee County also picked up a big win over Ripley, 28-14. In 3A, Wilkinson County pulled off one of the night’s biggest upsets with a 26-6 win at Philadelphia. In 1A, St. Aloysius knocked off Coffeeville 24-21 in overtime.
Petal 28 D’Iberville 21: James Milledge and Tyus Raine each topped 100 yards rushing as Petal beat D’Iberville. Milledge finished with 135 yards and two scores while Raine added an even 100 yards. The teams were tied 14-14 at the half.
Oak Grove 38 Hattiesburg 6: Oak Grove quarterback Kirk McCarty threw for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead Oak Grove over Hattiesburg. The Warriors led 28-0 at the half.
Madison Central 35 Desoto Central 13: Madison Central piled up 380 yards of offense in the first half as they pulled away for a 35-13 win over Desoto Central. Joseph Willis passed for 188 yards and three touchdowns, while junior Keenan Barnes had seven catches for 135 yards.
Tupelo 20 Warren Central 17: Senior Reed Bigham hit a 38-yard field goal with no time remaining as Tupelo beat Warren Central 20-17. Bigham also hit a 40-yarder to end the first half. Tupelo travels to Madison Central next week.
Pearl 33 West Point 22: Pearl picked up their first playoff win since 2009 with a win over West Point. Pearl sophomore quarterback Ladarius Carpenter provided 133 yards of offense and two scores in the win. Junior Jordan Wright rushed for 94 yards for the Pirates. West Point’s Aeris Williams churned out 156 rushing yards in the loss, capping a great high school career.
Oxford 50 Vicksburg 7: Oxford sophomore quarterback Jack Abraham had a big night with four touchdown throws as Oxford rolled over Vicksburg. The Chargers host Pearl next week.
Callaway 56 Saltillo 34: Callaway running back Carlos Ransburgh rushed for 175 yards and three scores to lead the Chargers to the 56-34 victory. Callaway hosts Clarksdale next week.
Jackson Academy 42 Presbyterian Christian 13: Jackson Academy quarterback Nick Conley had two touchdown tosses in the Raiders’ 42-13 win over Presbyterian Christian. Duncan Maxwell rushed for two scores.
Forrest County Columbia: Forrest County’s Dontavian Lee needed 17 carries to rush for 91 yards as he led Forrest County to the playoff victory. FC quarterback Cartr Hankins passed for 179 yards.
South Panola 45 Northwest Rankin 3: Darrell Henderson rushed for 151 yards on 13 carries to lead South Panola to the first round win over Northwest Rankin.
Jackson Prep 24 MRA 21: Jackson Prep quarterback Gene Wood threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns as Prep beat MRA 24-21. A Wood touchdown throw to Parker Carraci with 12 seconds remaining proved to be the difference. Zack Everhart ran for 190 yards to lead MRA, who outrushed Prep 267-9 in the loss.
Noxubee County 28 Ripley 14: The Noxubee County defense collected nine sacks in a 28-14 win over Ripley. The Tigers also intercepted Ripley quarterback Dalton James.
Baldwyn 33 Bruce 22: Baldwyn sophomore Duke Upshaw rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns on just 17 carries as Baldwyn beat Bruce 33-22. Dunta Armstrong had 76 yards rushing on 12 carries in the loss.
