This week’s National Guard Team of the Week features players from eight different teams including Oxford, St. Martin, Simpson Academy, Horn Lake, Ridgeland, Stone, Poplarville and Senatobia.

 

OFFENSE

QB, Jack Abraham, Oxford
Oxford senior quarterback Jack Abraham completed 23-28 passes for 396 yards and six touchdowns in a 54-30 win over Center Hill.

AP, Wayne Overman, St. Martin
St. Martin junior quarterback Wayne Overman passed for 103 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 154 yards with another score in a 43-20 win over George County.

RB, Kyle Burney, Simpson Academy
Simpson Academy athlete Kyle Burney rushed for 284 yards on 30 carries with four touchdowns as the Cougars beat North Delta 41-26 in the first round of the MAIS playoffs.

WR, Cameron Coleman, Horn Lake
Horn Lake wide receiver Cameron Coleman hauled in nine receptions for 213 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 34-13 loss to Tupelo.

 

DEFENSE

DL, Emmanuel Nash, Ridgeland
Ridgeland defensive end Emmanuel Nash racked up 11 total tackles with two tackles for a loss and a pass batted down as Ridgeland beat Holmes County Central 27-26.

LB, Tyler Fricke, Poplarville
Poplarville senior linebacker Tyler Fricke finished with a team-high 13 tackles and three sacks as Poplarville beat Columbia 31-21. He also returned a kickoff for a 75-yard touchdown.

DB, Nick Brown, Stone
Stone defensive back Nick Brown had three interceptions including one returned for a touchdown in a 38-0 blowout of Long Beach.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

P, Cooper Stevens, Senatobia
Senatobia athlete Cooper Stevens punted five times for a 44.4 yard average with three downed inside the 20-yard line in a 20-12 win over Rosa Fort. Stevens also completed 8-12 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
