High School Team Of The Week – Week 12

This week’s National Guard Team of the Week features players from eight different teams including Tupelo, Starkville, Presbyterian Christian, Oxford, Holmes County Central, Florence, Harrison Central and Vicksburg.

 

OFFENSE

Quarterback, Daniel Bristow, Tupelo
Tupelo senior quarterback helped Tupelo earn a No. 3 seed in the playoffs by leading the Golden Wave to a 35-28 win over Olive Branch. Bristow completed 17-23 passes for 193 yards and a touchdown. Bristow has completed 77% of his passes the last three weeks as Tupelo went 3-0 and reached the playoffs.

All-Purpose, A. J. Brown, Starkville
Starkville senior wide receiver A. J. Brown caught two passes for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 45-7 blowout of Clinton. Brown also had 135 punt return yards with a score, giving him 297 all-purpose yards.

Running Back, Isaiah Woullard, Presbyterian Christian
Presbyterian Christian athlete Isaiah Woullard led the Bobcats to a playoff win over Jackson Academy by rushing for 374 yards on 30 carries and four touchdowns. PCS won 45-28.

Wide Receiver, D. K. Metcalf, Oxford
Oxford senior wide receiver D. K. Metcalf caught 11 passes for 184 yards and a pair of scores in a 56-26 win over Lake Cormorant.

 

DEFENSE

Defensive Line, Damien Dickens, Holmes County Central
Holmes Central defensive end Damien Dickens racked up 20 tackles, five tackles for loss and four sacks in a 37-20 loss to Vicksburg.

Linebacker, Aaron Rainey, Harrison Central
Harrison Central senior linebacker Aaron Rainey helped lead his team to a playoff-clinching win over Ocean Springs with 15 tackles and a sack. Harrison Central won 28-24.

Defensive Back, Jamaal Lloyd, Florence
Florence defensive back Jamaal Lloyd piled up 19 tackles with one tackle for loss in a tough 14-13 loss to Purvis.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

Kicker, Greg Hayden, Vicksburg
Vicksburg kicker Greg Hayden hit 5-6 extra point attempts and was good on a 32-yard field goal in Vicksburg’s 37-20 win over Holmes County Central.
