This week’s MACJC Team Of The Week features two playoff semifinal games between East Central and Northwest, and also Itawamba and Gulf Coast.



QB, Gardner Minshew, Northwest
Northwest freshman quarterback Gardner Minshew completed 18-28 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-20 win over East Central.

AP, Octavious Matthews, Itawamba
Itawamba running back Octavious Matthews carried the ball ten times for 135 rushing yards and a touchdown in 49-17 loss to Gulf Coast.

RB, Tredarian Gamble, East Central
East Central running back Tredarian Gamble carried the offense with 31 rushes for 103 yards and a touchdown as East Central lost 27-20 to Northwest.

WR, Jonathan Nance, Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast wideout Jonathan Nance had a huge game with five receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown as the Bulldogs won 49-17 over Itawamba.



DL, Kris Reliford, Northwest
Northwest defensive lineman Kris Reliford collected eight tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack as the Rangers beat East Central 27-20.

LB, Daniel Johnson, Itawamba
Itawamba linebacker Daniel Johnson racked up 13 total tackles in a 49-17 loss to Gulf Coast.

DB, Marcus Betts, Gulf Coast
“Gulf Coast defensive back Marcus Betts finished with five tackles and an interception in the Bulldogs’ 49-17 blowout of Itawamba.



P, Jim Speights, Northwest
Northwest placekicker/punter Jim Speights had a big day by hitting 2-3 field goals and averaging 40.7 yards per punt as the Rangers beat East Central 27-20. Speights hit all three extra points, giving him nine points for the game. He punted six times with one downed inside the 20-yard line.
