Keith Villafranco Named First Team All-American

CLINTON, Miss. — Mississippi College junior defensive back Keith Villafranco was named a First Team All-American by, it was announced on Friday night.

Villafranco (Kenner, La. / Crescent City HS) became the second straight corner back for MC to be given the First Team honor, following in the footsteps of Jarrad Craine in 2011.

Villafranco was a First Team All-South Region and First Team All-ASC selection after finishing second in all of Division III with six forced fumbles and finished 14th with 16 passes defended.

Keith made the move from running back to defensive back in the spring and led the Choctaws and finished fourth in the ASC with 76 tackles.  He led the American Southwest Conference with 59 solo stops on the year.

Villafranco also led the team with five interceptions and recorded 9.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.  In the game against Louisiana College, he had a season-high 13 tackles, 2.0 TFL, one interception, a forced fumble and a fumble returned for a touchdown.
