MACJC Preseason Polls and All-State Team

The MACJC kicks off the 2017 football season Thursday tonight with the entire league scheduled to play. Five of the teams enter the season ranked among the NJCAA’s top 20 teams. From information we’ve gathered from around the league, East Mississippi is again the favorite in the North Division with Jones a narrow favorite in the South Division.

Buddy Stephens begins his 10th season at East Mississippi with three national championships, five MACJC State/NJCAA Region 23 titles, eight MACJC North Division regular-season crowns and five postseason bowl game victories under his belt. The wide receiver position is loaded with the return of Calvin Keyes, Kirk Merritt and Daniel Crowell. Linebacker Quin Jones is one of the MACJC’s top linebackers.

Jones County enters year two under Head Coach Steve Buckley and returns 32 sophomores including seven redshirt sophomores to their 55-man roster from a team that posted a 6-3 record last year. The Bobcat offense is led by Ole Miss running back commit Scott Phillips. Florida safety commit Deontai Williams is one of the defensive leaders.
