The Mississippi Gridiron Team of the Week for the third week of the season.  Players can be nominated each week by filling out our online nomination form.

Games of Aug. 16-18, 2012

QB Jamar Smith, So, Meridian
Sophomore quarterback Jamar Smith completed 16-18 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 27-6 win over visiting Clinton. Smith completed touchdowns passes of 10, 14 and 15 yards.

RB Preston Dedeaux, Jr, Picayune
Junior running back Preston DeDeaux rushed the ball 50 times for 310 yards and four touchdowns to lift Picayune to a 42-35 overtime win over Biloxi in the Shrimp Bowl.

RB Aeris Williams, Jr, West Point
Junior running back Aeris Williams ran for 102 yards on 20 carries against one of the state’s top defenses. West Point lost 12-10 to South Panola.

WR Korey Robertson, Jr, Greenwood
Greenwood junior wide receiver Korey Robertson caught six passes for 126 yards and four touchdowns in a 52-12 win over Leflore County.

WR Dayall Harris, Jr, Callaway
Callaway junior wide receiver Dayall Harris hauled in eleven catches for 145 yards and a touchdown in a 20-16 win over Northwest Rankin.

WR Tilmus Bradford, Sr, Charleston
Charleston senior Tilmus Bradford averaged 34 yards per catch against Southaven, hauling in four passes for 136 yards in a big 34-26 win over the 6A Chargers.

OL Austin Brewer, Jacob Feeley, Joey Reynolds, Cooper Esslinger, Chase Robertson, Picayune
Picayune’s offensive line of senior Austin Brewer, senior Jacob Feeley, senior Joey Reynolds, senior Cooper Esslinger and junior Chase Robertson paved the way Maroon Tide running backs to rush for 389 yards on 62 carries.


 Dylan Bradley, Sr, Noxubee County
Senior defensive tackle Dylan Bradley finished with 16 tackles, four sacks and five tackles for loss in a 29-8 victory over Starkville.

DT Breeland Speaks, Jr, Callaway
Junior defensive end Breeland Speaks led the Chargers to a 20-16 win over Northwest Rankin with 15 total tackles, including two tackles for loss.

DE Xavier Pegues, Sr, Oxford                        
Senior defensive end Xavier Pegues registered 18 tackles, including one sack, in the Chargers’ 28-22 won over Grenada.

DE Romario Cobb, Sr, Ocean Springs
Senior defensive end Romario Cobb led the Greyhounds to a 42-21 win over Gautier with 12 tackles and three sacks.

LB Jamarquis Foster, Sr, Potts Camp
Senior linebacker Jamarquis Foster led Potts Camp to a 32-6 win over Byers with nine tackles and an interception.

LB Fred Davis, Sr, Gentry
Senior linebacker Fred Davis had 14 total tackles as Gentry beat Greenville-Weston 41-23.

LB Kaelen Garner, Jr, Ocean Springs
Junior linebacker Kaelen Garner picked up 14 tackles with eight assists in a 42-21 win over Gautier.

LB Tyson Smith, Sr, Tylertown
Senior linebacker Tyson Smith finished with 13 tackles, including one sack, in a 55-14 win over Jim Hill.

LB Michael Hurns, Sr, East Side
Senior linebacker Michael Hurns led East Side to a 24-14 win over Shaw with eleven tackles and a sack.

S Antonio Conner, Sr, South Panola
Senior safety Antonio Conner led the Tigers to a 12-10 win over West Point, with a team-high 13 tackles and a tackle for loss.

S Nick Barnes, S, West Marion
Senior safety Nick Barnes had 14 tackles and recovered a fumble to help lift West Marion to a 44-6 win over Dexter.

CB, Anthony Triplett, Sr, Philadelphia
Senior cornerback Anthony Triplett registered five tackles, and returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown in Philadelphia’s 21-14 win over Morton.

CB, Emory Ireland, Jr, Hattiesburg
Junior defensive back Emory Ireland had two interceptions and three tackles in Hattiesburg’s 51-22 blowout win over Murrah.


PK Clayton Sibley, Sr, South Panola
South Panola senior placekicker Clayton Sibley hit four field goals in a 12-10 win over West Point, including a two-yard game-winner as time expired. Sibley hit field goals of 12, 27,  19and 12 yards.

P Zach Tranum, Sr, Madison Central
Madison Central senior punter Zach Tranum punted six times for a total of 318 yards, and an average of 53 yards per punt in the Jaguars 31-28 loss to Olive Branch.
