Mississippi Gridiron Team of the Week for Week 6

The Mississippi Gridiron Team of the Week for week 6 of the season. Players are selected with consideration given to the individual performance, the impact on the game, the quality of opponent, and the magnitude of the game. Players can be nominated each week by filling out our online nomination form.

QB, Larson Barkum, Sr, Petal  
In one of the state’s biggest games of the week, Petal senior quarterback Larson Barkum completed 15-28 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Panthers to a 28-14 win over Hattiesburg.

QB, Regan Edwards, Jr, Glenbrook Academy  
Junior quarterback Regan Edwards completed 20-32 passes for 485 yards and six touchdowns to lift Glenbrook Academy to an 82-69 win over River Oaks Academy. Edwards added 130 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

AP, Ja’rius Moore, Sr, Terry
Terry senior quarterback Ja’rius Moore carried the Bulldogs in a 35-21 loss to Brandon with 407 yards of offense. Moore carried 20 times for 182 yards and completed 13-23 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns. Moore also had one reception for 27 yards.

RB, Quantrell Reddix, Jr, D’Iberville                                                                                
Junior running back Quantrell Reddix fueled D’Iberville’s 23-22 upset win over Biloxi by rushing 33 times for 132 yards and a touchdown.

RB, Jerome Keys, Sr, Bassfield        
Senior running back Jerome Keys rushed 19 times for 189 yards and two touchdowns in Bassfield’s 32-0 win over Tylertown.

RB, Randy Bell, Sr, Centreville Academy               
Senior running back Randy Bell rushed 27 times for 194 yards and four touchdowns to lift Centreville to a 35-33 win over Brookhaven Academy in the biggest MAIS game of the week.

WR, Nick Beasley, Sr, St. Joseph (Madison)
St. Joseph senior wide receiver Nick Beasley ran seven times for 84 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 3-3 passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in a 35-7 win over Union. Beasley also had an interception and five tackles.

WR, Derrian Robinson, Sr, Natchez
Natchez senior Derrian Robinson rushed 16 times for 153 yards and three touchdowns in a 54-41 win over previous 2nd-ranked Meridian. Robinson added four receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown, and a 21-yard touchdown pass.

WR, Jamarcus Revies, Sr, Petal
Senior wide receiver Jamarcus Revies caught nine passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns in Petal’s 28-14 win over Hattiesburg.

OL, Austin Tatum (Jr), Maurey Bland (Jr), Bailey Pepper (Sr), Jimmy Terry (Jr), Donald Warren (Jr) / Madison Central
The Madison Central offensive line helped the Jaguars churn out 509 yards of total offense in a 35-17 win over Clinton. The Jaguars rushed 44 times for 277 yards, and passed for 232 yards.


DT, Chris Jones, Sr, Houston  
Senior defensive lineman Chris Jones had 13 tackles and five sacks in Houston’s 21-6 win over Bruce. Jones also had four quarterback hurries.

DT, Bradford Moore, Sr, Hattiesburg
Senior defensive lineman Bradford Moore had twelve tackles, including seven solo tackles, in Hattiesburg’s 28-14 loss to Petal.

DE, Gemarta Jackson, Jr, Madison Central    
Junior defensive end Gemarta Jackson had seven tackles and 1 ½ sacks in Madison Central’s 35-17 win over Clinton.

DE, Evin Hunt, Sr, Natchez                                    
Natchez senior defensive lineman Evin Hunt had 12 tackles and a sack in a 54-41 win over Meridian.

LB, Quinterio Bailey, Sr, Water Valley
Water Valley senior linebacker Quinterio Bailey racked up 15 tackles, including three tackles for loss, in a 61-6 win over J. Z. George. Bailey also forced a fumble.

LB, James Graves, Sr, Bassfield
Senior linebacker James Graves had 14 total tackles, including ten solo tackles, in Bassfield’s 32-0 win over Tylertown.

LB, Jacorea Poole, Sr, Picayune  
Senior linebacker Jacorea Poole had a team-high 15 tackles in Picayune’s 21-20 win over Pearl River Central.

LB, Dwight Griggs, Sr, Greenwood                 
Senior linebacker Dwight Griggs registered 14 total tackles and two sacks in Greenwood’s 14-13 loss to East Side.

DB, Ronald Walker, Jr, Callaway
Callaway junior defensive back Ronald Walker had ten tackles and one sack in a 19-13 win over Provine.

DB, Demarcus Rivers, Jr, Velma Jackson
Junior defensive back Demarcus Rivers 12 tackles, 1 ½ sacks, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble in Velma Jackson’s 34-22 loss to Leake County.

DB, Larry Prentiss, Sr, Warren Central           
Senior defensive back Larry Prentiss had five tackles, intercepted two passes and had one sack in Warren Central’s 28-7 win over Northwest Rankin.

DB, Bradley McCurdy, Jr, Olive Branch
Junior defensive back Bradley McCurdy picked off two passes in Olive Branch’s 31-28 win over Southaven. McCurdy added four tackles.


Special Teams

PK, Sam Gould, Jr, French Camp
Junior placekicker Sam Gould hit 3-4 field goal attempts  and his only extra point attempt in French Camp’s 16-14 win over Shaw. Gould’s field goal with 3:43 remaining provided the final margin of victory.

P, Evan Buckley, Sr, West Jones
West Jones senior punter Evan Buckley punted three times for a 47 yard average in West Jones’ 56-26 win over South Jones. Buckley had a long punt of 57 yards and had two punts downed inside the 20 yard line.
