The Mississippi Gridiron Team of the Week for week 9 of the season. Players are selected with consideration given to the individual performance, the impact on the game, the quality of opponent, and the magnitude of the game. Players can be nominated each week by filling out our online nomination form.

QB, Tyler Allen, Jr, St. Stanislaus
Junior quarterback Tyler Allen completed 25-37 passes for 443 yards and seven touchdowns in an 82-80 loss to Poplarville. Allen added 72 rushing yards and a touchdown on ten carries.

QB, Gage Posey, Sr, Brookhaven Academy      
Senior quarterback Gage Posey completed 16-19 passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns in Brookhaven Academy’s 41-0 win over Columbia Academy. Posey also rushed for 69 yards.

AP, Khadarel Hodge, Sr, Mendenhall                              
Mendenhall senior quarterback Khadarel Hodge completed 12-16 passes for 270 yards and five touchdowns, and rushed for 112 yards on seven carries in a 64-20 win over Raymond.

RB, Ashton Shumpert, Sr, Itawamba AHS                                                                       
Senior running back Ashton Shumpert carried 14 times for 216 yards and three touchdowns in Itawamba’s 42-13 win over Pontotoc. Shumpert added a 65-yard punt return touchdown.

RB, Cobb Kelly, Sr, Silliman            
Senior all-purpose player Cobb Kelly led Silliman to a 49-42 win over Adams County Christian by rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, in addition to completing 14-26 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns.

RB, Jiquan James, Jr, Poplarville                          
Junior running back Jiquan James rushed 37 times for 401 yards and five touchdowns to lead Poplarville to an 82-80 win over St. Stanislaus.

WR, Seth Rushing, Sr, Brookhaven Academy
Senior wide receiver Seth Rushing caught eight passes for 176 yards to help lead Brookhaven Academy to a 41-0 win over Columbia Academy.

WR, Kameron Myers, Sr, Charleston            
Senior all-purpose receiver Kameron Myers rushed 16 times for 177 yards and a touchdown, and added three catches for 51 yards and another score in Charleston’s 50-20 win over North Panola.

WR, Desmond Goss, Jr, Louisville
Junior wideout Desmond Goss caught nine passes for 208 yards and two touchdowns in a 33-13 win over Caledonia.

OL, Travis Brogle (Sr), Dusty Breckley (Jr), Jarryd Jacobs (Sr), Ashton Williams (Sr), Aaron Bourgeois (Sr) / Bay
The Bay High School offensive line allowed Tiger running backs to rush for 370 yards on just 32 carries and four touchdowns on the ground in Bay’s 45-7 win over Vancleave. The unit is led by senior All-State center Travis Brogle.


DL, Cody Vomberg, Sr, MRA                          
Senior defensive lineman Cody Vomberg led the MRA defense with 14 tackles as the Patriots beat Simpson Academy 20-7.

DL, O’Kedrick Campbell, Sr, Water Valley
Senior defensive lineman O’Kedrick Campbell registered nine total tackles, a team-high 1 ½ sacks and had seven quarterback hurries to help Water Valley to a 33-13 win over Nettleton.

DE, Phalen Booker, Sr, Bay                           
Senior defensive end Phalen Booker totaled 12 tackles, including three sacks, and forced a fumble in Bay’s 45-7 win over Vancleave.

DE, Damon Stamps, Sr, Warren Central                                                             
Senior defensive end Damon Stamps had 12 total tackles, two sacks and an interception in Warren Central’s 35-31 win over Murrah.

LB, Jarquis Adams, Sr, Oxford
Senior linebacker Jarquis Adams of Oxford posted a team high 17 tackles with a sack in the Chargers’ 31-0 win against Hernando.

LB, Keenan Fuqua, Sr, Wayne County
Senior linebacker Keenan Fuqua had a team high 15 tackles in Wayne County’s 28-7 win over West Jones.

LB, Brady Barnes, Sr, New Albany                                                       
New Albany senior linebacker Brady Barnes had a team-high 17 tackles in a 10-7 upset victory over Lafayette.

LB, Jonathan Bobo, Sr, Bruce
Senior linebacker Jonathan Bobo led all Bruce players with nine tackles, one sack and two interceptions in the Trojans’ 48-17 win over Baldwyn.

DB, Anthony Triplett, Sr, Philadelphia
Senior defensive back Anthony Triplett picked off two passes in a 49-6 win over Heidelberg. Triplett added a touchdown reception.

DB, Xavion Thedford, Sr, Hazlehurst                                         
Senior defensive back Xavion Thedford had five tackles and an interception in Hazlehurst’ 35-22 win over Wilkinson County.

DB, Daryl Barefield, Sr, Booneville                                                                  
Senior defensive back Daryl Barefield had eight tackles and an interception in Booneville’s 39-7 win over Holly Springs.

DB, Jalon Kingston, Jr, Clinton
Junior defensive back Jalon Kinston had a pair of interceptions to help Clinton beat Northwest Rankin by a 17-15 score.

Senior placekicker Haiden McCraney was 2-2 on extra points and hit both of his field goal attempts, including a 50-yarder, in MRA’s 20-7 win over Simpson Academy.

P, Tristan Reynolds, Sr, Petal
Senior punter Tristan Reynolds averaged 43 yards per punt on four punts in Petal’s 41-20 win over Natchez. Reynolds had a long punt of 49 yards and one downed inside the 20 yard line.
