National Guard JUCO Team Of The Week – Week 8

The National Guard JUCO Team of the Week for week eight features another appearance from Itawamba quarterback Peyton Bender following a 354-yard passing effort against Mississippi Delta, and 150 yards rushing from Co-Lin running back Ladarius Galloway.


Quarterback, Peyton Bender, Itawamba
Itawamba quarterback Peyton Bender (6’1, 185 / Fort Lauderdale, FL / Cardinal Gibbons HS) completed 25-37 passes for 354 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Indians to a 49-7 win over Mississippi Delta.

All-Purpose, Dejerric Bryant, Holmes
Holmes quarterback Dejerric Bryant (5’10, 180 / Mize, MS / Mize HS) completed 10-15 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns, in addition to 60 yards rushing to help the Bulldogs to a 41-21 win over Northeast.

Running Back, Ladarius Galloway, Co-Lin
Co-Lin running back Ladarius Galloway (5’9, 195 / Indianola, MS / Gentry HS) needed just 15 carries to rush for 150 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-20 win over Southwest. Galloway also had four receptions for 33 yards.

Wide Receiver, Stephen Guidry, Hinds
Hinds wide receiver Stephen Guidry (6’4, 185 / Livonia, LA / Livonia HS) caught three passes for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Eagles 28-27 loss to Jones. Guidry averaged 42 yards per reception.


Defensive Line, Isaiah Buggs, Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs (6’4, 290 / Ruston, LA / Ruston HS) piled up eight tackles with three tackles for loss and a sack in Gulf Coast’s 30-17 win over Pearl River.

Linebacker, Tay Carothers, Itawamba
Itawamba linebacker Tay Carothers (6’3, 220 / Aberdeen, MS / Aberdeen HS) finished with five tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in the Indians’ 49-7 win over Mississippi Delta.

Defensive Back, Sean Harper, Holmes
Holmes defensive back Sean Harper (6’2, 190 / Hartwell, GA) finished with five total tackles with a pair of interceptions in the Bulldogs’ 41-21 win over Northeast.


Kicker, Joshua Rowland, Gulf Coast
Gulf Coast kicker Joshua Rowland (5’10, 175 / Madison, MS / Madison Central HS) was 3-3 on field goals and 3-3 on extra points to help Gulf Coast to a 30-17 win over Pearl River.
