Playoff Scenarios for Class 2-4A – MSHAA

Hard to believe we are talking playoffs already – playoffs. Heck, the MAIS starts their playoffs this week.

Here are the scenarios heading into the final week of the regular season for MHSAA Class 4A, 3A and 2A.

CLASS 4A

Region 1-4A: The winner of the Amory-Corinth game Friday will be the No. 1 seed. Corinth cannot be worse than the No. 2 seed. Pontotoc can be no better than the No. 4 seed. If Itawamba AHS beats Tishomingo County and Amory loses to Corinth and Shannon beats Pontotoc then the Indians are the No. 2 seed. If Amory loses to and Pontotoc beats Shannon then Amory is the No. 2 seed, IAHS is No. 3 seed.

Region 2-4A: If Senatobia defeats Rosa Fort Friday and Lafayette defeats Byhalia then Senatobia would be the No. 1 seed, Lafayette No. 2 seed and Rosa Fort the No. 3 seed. If Rosa Fort defeats Senatobia by 11 points or less then Lafayette would be No. 1 seed, Rosa Fort the No. 2 seed and Senatobia the No. 3 seed. If Rosa Fort defeats Senatobia by 12 points or more then Rosa Fort would be the No. 1 seed, Lafayette No. 2 seed and Senatobia the No. 3 seed. The winner of the New Albany-Ripley game Friday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 3-4A: Greenwood can clinch the No. 1 seed on Friday with a win over Raymond.  If Gentry beats Cleveland then Gentry will be the No. 2 seed, Raymond the No. 3 seed and Cleveland will be the No. 4 seed. If Raymond beats Greenwood by 10 points or more and Cleveland beats Gentry by 9 points or more then Raymond would the No. 1 seed, Greenwood the No. 2 seed, Cleveland the No. 3 seed and Gentry the No. 4 seed.

Region 4-4A: Noxubee County has clinched the No. 1 seed. The winner of the Kosiusko-Louisville will be the No. 2 seed and the loser will be the No. 3 seed. Houston has clinched the No. 4 seed.

Region 5-4A: West Lauderdale has clinched the No. 1 seed. If Mendenhall beats Quitman and NE Jones defeats Newton County then Mendenhall will No. 2 seed, NE Jones No. 3 seed and Quitman No. 4 seed. If Quitman beats Mendenhall then NE Jones will be the No. 2 seed, Quitman No. 3 seed and Mendenhall No. 4 seed.

Region 6-4A: This region is set. Lawrence County is the No. 1 seed, McComb No. 2 seed, North Pike No. 3 seed and Florence is the No. 4 seed.

Region 7-4A: If Purvis defeats Forrest Co. AHS on Friday and Columbia beats Poplarville then Purvis will be the No. 1 seed, Columbia the No. 2 seed, Forrest Co. AHS the No. 3 seed and Poplarville will be the No. 4 seed. If Poplarville beats Columbia by 10 points or more then Columbia would still be No. 2 seed, Poplarville will be the No. 3 seed and Forrest Co. AHS will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 8-4A: St. Stanislaus has clinched the No. 1 seed and East Central has clinched the No. 2 seed. If Vancleave beats East Central and Moss Point beats Bay High then Pass Christian is the No. 3 seed and Vancleave is No. 4 seed. If Moss Point beats Bay High then Moss Point is the No. 3 seed and Pass Christian is the No. 4 seed. If Bay High defeats Moss Point on Friday then they would be No. 4 seed.

CLASS 3A

Region 1-3A: The winner of the Booneville-Kossuth game Friday will be the No. 1 seed and the loser will be the No. 2 seed. Benton County will be the No. 3 seed with a win over New Site on Friday. The winner of the Alcorn Central-Belmont game Friday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 2-3A: Charleston has clinched the No. 1 seed. If Water Valley defeats Marks Palmer on Friday than Water Valley would be the No. 2 seed, North Panola would be the No. 3 seed and Independence the No. 4 seed. If Marks Palmer defeats Water Valley then Marks Palmer would be the No. 2 seed, Water Valley the No. 3 seed and North Panola would be the No. 4 seed.  If Holly Springs beats North Panola then Independence will be No. 3 seed and Marks Palmer would be the No. 4 seed.

Region 3-3A: If Yazoo County defeats Velma Jackson on Thursday and Humphreys County defeats Amanda Elzy then Yazoo County will be the No. 1, Cleveland East Side the No. 2 seed, Velma Jackson the No. 3 seed and Humphreys County the No. 4 seed, If Velma Jackson beats Yazoo County by 7 points or less then Cleveland East Side would be the No. 1 seed, Velma Jackson the No. 2 seed and Yazoo County the No. 3 seed. If Velma Jackson defeats Yazoo County by 8 points or more then Velma Jackson would be the No. 1 seed, East Side the No. 2 seed and Yazoo County the No. 3 seed.

Region 4-3A: Aberdeen has clinched the No. 1 seed. If North Pontotoc defeats South Pontotoc on Friday the Vikings will be the No. 2 seed. Nettleton can be the No. 2 seed if the Tigers beat Aberdeen on Friday and South Pontotoc beats North Pontotoc. If Nettleton loses to Aberdeen then they will be the No. 3 seed. The winner of the Mooreville-Hatley game Friday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 5-3A: Kemper County has clinched the No. 1 seed and Forest has clinched the No. 2 seed. Choctaw County will clinch the No. 3 seed with a win over Choctaw Central on Friday and Philadelphia will be the No. 4 seed. If Philadelphia beats Kemper County on Friday and Choctaw County loses to Choctaw Central then Philadelphia would be the No. 3 seed and Choctaw County will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 6-3A: The winner of the Raleigh-Morton game on Friday will be the No. 1 seed and the loser will be the No. 2 seed. Magee will be the No. 3 seed with a win over McLaurin on Friday.  The winner of the Crystal Springs-St. Andrew’s game on Friday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 7-3A: Hazlehurst has clinched the No. 1 seed. If Franklin County defeats Jefferson County on Friday then Franklin County will the No. 2 seed, Wilkinson County will be No. 3 seed and Jefferson County will be the No. 4 seed.

 Region 8-3A: Collins has clinched the No. 1 seed. If West Marion beats Tylertown and Seminary beats St. Patrick then West Marion would be the No. 2 seed, Seminary the No. 3 seed and Tylertown would be the No. 4 seed. If Tylertown beats West Marion by 3-9 points then West Marion would be the No. 2 seed, Tylertown the No. 3 seed and Seminary the No. 4 seed. If Tylertown beats West Marion by 10 or more then Tylertown would be the No. 2 seed, West Marion the No. 3 seed and Seminary the No. 4 seed.

CLASS 2A

Region 1-2A: The winner of the Baldwyn-Mantachie game Friday will be the No. 1 seed and the loser will be the No. 2 seed.  The winner of the East Union-Walnut game will be the No. 3 seed and the loser will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 2-2A: If Strayhorn beats West Tallahatchie on Friday and J.Z. George defeats Coahoma County on Friday then Coahoma AHS is the No. 1 seed, Strayhorn is No. 2 seed, J.Z. George the No. 3 seed and West Tallahatchie the No. 4 seed.  If West Tallahatchie beats Strayhorn and J.Z. George defeats Coahoma County then West Tallahatchi e is No. 1 seed, Coahoma AHS is No. 2 seed, Strayhorn is No. 3 seed and J.Z. George the No. 4 seed. If Coahoma County defeats J.Z. George then the Red Panthers would be the No. 4 seed.

Region 3-2A: The winner of the O’Bannon-Leflore County game Friday will be the No. 1 seed and the loser will be the No. 2 seed. If West Bolivar defeats Leland and South Delta defeats Riverside then West Bolivar would be the No. 3 seed and South Delta will be No. 4 seed.

Region 4-2A: If Calhoun City defeats Winona on Friday and East Webster defeats Eupora on Friday then Calhoun City will be No. 1 seed, East Webster the No. 2 seed, Winona No. 3 seed and Eupora will be the No. 4 seed. If Eupora defeats East Webste by 9 points then East Webster would be the No. 2 seed, Eupora No. 3 seed and Winona will be No. 4 seed. If Calhoun City defeats Winona and Eupora defeats East Webster by more than 12 points than Eupora would be the No. 2 seed, East Webster the No. 3 seed and Winona seed No. 4.

Region 5-2A: Bay Springs has clinched the No. 1 seed and Union has clinched the No. 2 seed.  If Enterprise-Clarke defeats Newton on Friday then the Bulldogs will be the No. 3 and Heidelberg would be the No. 4 seed. If Newton defeats Enterprise-Clarke then Newton would be the No. 3 seed and Enterprise-Clarke would be the No. 4 seed.

Region 6-2A: If Puckett defeats Pisgah on Friday and if Lake beats Scott Central then Puckett will be the No. 1 seed, Lake the No. 2 seed and Pisgah the No. 3 seed. If Pisgah beats Puckett by 7 points then Lake is the No. 1 seed, Pisgah the No. 2 seed and Puckett the No. 3 seed.  If Pisgah beats Puckett by less than 7 points then Lake is the No. 1 seed, Puckett the No. 2 seed and Pisgah the No. 3 seed. The winner of the Madison St. Joseph-Pelahatchie game on Thursday will be the No. 4 seed.

Region 7-2A: If Bassfield defeats Prentiss on Friday then Bassfield is the No. 1 seed, Amite County is No. 2 seed and Prentiss is No. 3 seed. If Loyd Star defeats West Lincoln then Loyd Star is No. 4 seed.

Region 8-2A: This region is set. Mize is No. 1 seed, Taylorsville is No. 2 seed, East Marion is No. 3 seed and North Forrest is No. 4 seed.
