Statewide Team of the Week for Week 4

The Mississippi Gridiron statewide Team of the Week is presented by Malone Roofing Services. Oxford junior placekicker Jack Tannehill is featured this week after hitting all five extra point attempts and nailing a 47-yard field goal in a big win over Lafayette.


Quarterback, Justin Smith / Holmes County
Holmes County Central quarterback Justin Smith completed 14-17 passes for 346 yards and seven touchdowns in a 53-6 win over Murrah.

All-Purpose, Tyvez Tate / Puckett
Puckett junior quarterback Tyvez Tate finished with an amazing 530 yards of total offense and eight touchdowns in a 60-57 win over West Lincoln. Tate rushed for 239 yards and four touchdowns and passed for 291 yards and four more scores.

Running Back, Kentrel Bullock / Columbia
Columbia senior running back Kentrel Bullock needed just 18 carries to pile up 284 yards and three touchdowns in a 32-14 win over North Pike. Bullock had a long run of 91 yards.

Wide Receiver, Noah Murray / Clinton Christian
Clinton Christian wide receiver Noah Murray caught ten passes for 234 yards with a pair of touchdowns in a 32-14 win over Canton Academy.


Defensive Line, McKinley Jackson / George County
George County defensive tackle McKinley Jackson had eight tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks and two hurries in a 21-13 win over Ocean Springs.

Linebacker, Zihenryon Perry / Brandon
Brandon linebacker Zihenryon Perry racked up 17 total tackles including three tackles for loss, a pair of sacks and a caused fumble in the Bulldogs’ 10-9 win over Warren Central.

Defensive Back, Demarrius Ingram / St. Martin
St. Martin senior defensive back Demarrius Ingram finished with nine tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in a 41-28 win over Pearl River Central.


Kicker, Jack Tannehill / Oxford
Oxford junior placekicker Jack Tannehill was 5-5 on extra points and 1-1 on field goals with a 47-yarder in a 46-7 win over Lafayette. He also put seven of eight kickoffs in the endzone for touchbacks.
