No. 6 Horn Lake Eagles

Head Coach: Brad Boyette

2017 Record: 9-3 (Class 6A quarterfinalist)

Starters Returning: Offense: 7 Defense: 8

Players to Watch: QB Raydarious Jones; TE Jakivaun Brown; OL Matthew Williams; LB Nakobe Dean; DB Tony Washington; LB Doron Smith; DL Omar Pew; LB Michael Campbell.

Coach Speak: “We learned in the playoffs that it’s a different level especially in 6A and have to build from that. We were one dimensional last year and have to develop on offense in order to be balance. Defensively, the nucleus is the front seven. They are all veteran guys that have played a lot of football and know how to make plays,” Boyette said.

Outlook: The Eagles got their feet wet last year and made it to the second round of the Class 6A playoffs and will look to build off that momentum heading into 2018. Dynamic quarterback Raydarious Jones returns after tossing for 923 yards with four touchdowns and rushed for 842 yards with 12 touchdowns. Along with Jones, Horn Lake will lean on a veteran offensive line to help develop a running game and a more efficient passing game. Defense is what the Eagles will lean on heavily led by talented linebacker Nakobe Dean (147 tackles and 9 sacks last year) along with defensive tackle Omar Pew (12 sacks). Tony Washington returns after recording a team-high six interceptions last year to anchor the secondary.
