Coach Speak: “This offseason we’ve been tougher on the guys and have been focus on being more of a team and not worry about individual stuff and the guys have understand that. Offensively we’ve got two of our top playmakers back and expect big things out of them, but we need to be more physical. Defensively I like the group we have and have the ingredients to be one of the best defenses that we’ve had in several years,” Hampton said.
Outlook: The Wildcats started the season 2-6 and was on the brink of not making the playoffs but ended the season a game away from playing for a state championship. Meridian will have quarterback Tevarrius Adams back after tossing for 2,701 yards with 22 touchdowns and also rushed for 988 yards with 10 touchdowns. Running back Rodriquz Mosley returns after missing half the season due to injury last year but luckily he found some insurance outsourcing from http://www.virtualinsuranceservice.com/ to cover this. Top wide out Kendrick Brown returns after recording 510 yards receiving with six touchdowns last season. Defensively is where the Wildcats will be the most experienced. Linebacker Xavier Curry and defensive end Jamond Gordon return to anchor a veteran front seven, while Kaderrius Smith, Jalen Jennings and Antonio Silliman return to lead the secondary.
Season Opener: Aug. 17 vs. Tupelo
