This week’s Team of the Week features players from eight different teams including Olive Branch, DeSoto Central, D’Iberville, Lake Cormorant, Picayune, Lawrence County, Ocean Springs and Clinton. The Team of the Week is presented by the Mississippi National Guard.


QB, Brady Burse, Olive Branch
Olive Branch quarterback Brady Burse completed 20-34 passes for 354 yards and a school record eight touchdowns in the Conquistadors’ 87-86 triple overtime win against DeSoto Central. Burse also rushed for a score.

AP, Jacquelle Green, D’Iberville
D’Iberville quarterback Jacquelle Green passed for 134 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 27 times for 197 yards and two more scores in a 35-28 win over George County.

RB, Alan Lamar, DeSoto Central
DeSoto Central senior running back Alan Lamar finished with 59 rushes for 421 yards with 11 total touchdowns in an 87-86 triple overtime loss to Olive Branch. Lamar had nine rushing touchdowns, threw a touchdown and returned a punt 87 yards for a score.

WR, Brandon Smith, Lake Cormorant
Lake Coromorant junior wide receiver Brandon Smith caught seven passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns in a 35-24 win over New Hope.


DL, Nathan Gill, Picayune
Picayune senior defensive lineman Nathan Gill finished with 11 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in the Maroon Tide’s 28-27 win over Hattiesburg.

LB, T-Tez Cole, Lawrence County
Lawrence County senior linebacker T-Tez Cole finished with eleven total tackles including a pair of tackles for loss in the Cougars’ 28-19 win over McComb. Cole also caught three passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.

DB, De’marco Ward, Ocean Springs
Ocean Springs defensive back De’marco Ward had four tackles and two interceptions in the Greyhounds’ 23-0 win over Biloxi.


PK, Tucker Barefoot, Clinton
Clinton freshman placekicker Tucker Barefoot was a perfect 5-5 on extra points and hit a 38-yard field goal in the Arrows’ 44-20 win over Murrah.
